Bealeton and Warrenton Carburetor Repair
Carburetors are relics of a bygone era. Toyota hasn’t used them in the US in over 30 years. To my knowledge Lexus never used them. Before the days of computer controls and fuel injection we had carburetors. Carbs used a complex system of vacuum passages, jets, and valves to create a precise air fuel mixture. While carburetors did an amazing job of mixing air and fuel in an analog world, their tiny passages and complex linkages needed frequent cleaning and adjustment. We don’t see carburetors as often as we used to but we are equipped to work on them. We have the proper tools to adjust and tune them. If that fails we’re also set up to rebuild them. We disassemble each carb noting any wear or other issues it may have. Then we soak it in a heated ultrasonic tank to clean all of the internal passages. Once clean they’re reassembled with new gaskets and seals. We then preset all of the settings using a factory Toyota carburetor adjustment set to make the first start up easier. We no longer offer carburetor rebuilds as a mail in service. We only do them for vehicles at the shop so that we can do the final tuning after installation.
