Bealeton and Warrenton Timing Belt Replacement
The timing belt on a vehicle choreographs the very intricate dance between the pistons and the valves. Timing belts have a limited service life. They’re a rubber belt living in very harsh temperature conditions. There’s no real good way to visually inspect a timing belt. Because of this, manufacturers give guidelines on when they should be replaced. Most people know that they’re often replaced by mileage. A lot of people don’t know that there is usually also a time component to the guideline as well. We see many vehicles that are under the mileage limit but are years past the time limit. When the belt fails you can have a failure of the vehicle to start all the way to catastrophic engine failure depending on the design. It is very important to stay up to date on belt replacement. At OTRAMM we don’t just slap a belt in there and call it good. We replace everything the belt touches. We’d hate to see a pulley fail shortly after changing the belt causing a ton of rework. We do it all the first time to make sure that everything is up to task until the next change is due. Since we only service Toyota and Lexus we’ve also gotten familiar with failures of components in the area of the timing belt. We also change those parts with a timing belt job to keep everything running smoothly and avoid added labor down the line.
If you’re due for a timing belt change give us a call and we’ll get you scheduled in to take care of it.
